trying to keep everything together as we hit the midpoint of the del mar meet. not too much of note today, but here's my take.
r1: kissy kat. i think godlen kk may be a bit vulnerable in here; not because there's oemthing wrong with her, but rather she's got that alarming consistency in her beyers which means she's vulnerable to someone who can step up. kissy kat fits the bill perfectly,; she got left at the start and still made up four lengths in the final 1/8th of a mile to get up and win. she didn't beat anybody, but overcoming that type of adversity in her debut stamps her as a filly who could improve big time. the mile trip shouldn't be much of a problem and she should get a good trip stalking golden kk and pem's hostess. if those two go too fast early, 'kkat will get the coveted first over trip.
r4: breezing score. ok, this is a bit of a reach in here as joejoe steiner makes his return from a terrible spill. the rail is no great shakes, and stute is off to a slow start this meet, which just means the 15/1 morning line will go up up up. 'score has speed and that could be very dangerous in this 10k claimer. the real hurdle is the pseed immediately to his outside, in standard choice, but i'll make a very small play on this one in the hope that he can clear off early and hold on for dear life.
r7: pelirrojo. how you play this race depends on, among other things, whether you believe that the two true speed horses, yankee gentlemen and hurricane smoke will simply run 1-2 around the entire track, or whether they will soften each other up enough for a closer to win. unless the first five dirt races tell me that speed is king, i'm going to bet on the latter happening. both 'yankee and 'smoke have been training sharply and look ready to rumble this afternoon. pelirrojo, on the other hand hasn't been the same since returning from that injury in the san rafael. he has, however, picked up of late in the mornings and sadler is deadly with the turf to dirt angle.
that's all today. good luck.
